Edward Hogan aka  "The Meter Man"

Hogan, Marren & McCahill LTD.

Mr. Hogan is counsel to the Chicago Laborers District Council. He was  selected by trustee Robert Bloch who in turn was selected by GEB Attorney Robert Luskin who in turn was selected by Arthur Coia as defense counsel for LIUNA in its defense against the threatened RICO suit. None of the above was ever elected to any office or position of authority by LIUNA members.

Mr. Hogan is also counsel to

  • to IBEW 134 ( LIUNA competitor for work jurisdiction)
  • local 2
  • David Schippers, former local 2 trustee,  now defendant against fraud charges in a Cook County civil suit Veitch vs. Schippers, Tracy & Ruggero.
  • Al Tracy, former local 2 assistant trustee , spouse of Nancy Ruggero.
  • Nancy Ruggero, administrative assistant to David Schippers, former airline "stew" commonly referred to by local 2 members as "Schippers' lady friend" or as the dominatrix of the "cozy crew of local 2".
  • 7 or 8 local 2 members in NRLB suits because their grievances were mishandled. These members of local 2 were never given an opportunity to select private counsel or counsel of their choosing. One wonders if they even approved the initiation of the long term venture they are on in securing justice from the NRLB before retirement in 30 years. One also wonders whether more will be obtained in legal fees by counsel than back pay. Let's see how long the meter runs.

"The Meter Man"

Some lawyers use time-slips to record their billable and non billable time. For them there is a distinction between time that can and should be billed the client and time that in all good conscience can not be billed at all.

Others always have their meter running and would of course fully support the concept of "show up" time, time union members spend getting to the job on a rainy day when no one in their right mind is going to work and waiting for the rain to end.
