Not everyone is a Web
or Internet Master!
Using the World Wide Web and computers can be confusing
for firsttime Internet explorers.
We have put together a few tips to help you increase your enjoyment with this site
and to minimize the inconveniences of learning how to do something for the firsttime.
Obviously, you know how to connect to this site. You're here.
And, you have also learned about "Hyper-text," because you touched your
mouse arrow to the text on the previous screen, and it brought you here. That's what
"Hyper-text" is.
Hyper-text usually is a blue color and underlined. But, that may vary on different
computers and screen. It might be grey, green, or another color. But, usually, the
Hyper-Text is text that is different from the rest of the sentence. I have done that with
this word: Hyper-Text. By touching the phrase
"Hyper-Text," you will suddenly jump to where-ever we have linked those words to
... in this case, you come back to this web page. This phrase is not Hyper-Texted, at all,
and is just bold-faced: Hyper-Text.
On our web page, we offer a selection of Hyper-Text and Graphic Images that act
like Hyper-Text, too. For example, there are Stars (colored gold on most computers) with
Hyper-Text underneath. SImply by touching the star, you can also jump to the new page that
the star and words are linked to.

Police NewsBy touching the
star above or the text underneath with your mouse arrow or cursor, you will jump to
whatever page we have linked those objects to ... in this case, you will come back to this
web page. (We don't want you to go anywhere yet!)
Most of our major Web Pages have these options. On systems using the newest Web Browser,
such as Netscape 3.0, for example, you will see the Stars and Hyper-Text underneath, lined
up in a column on the left side of your screen. The story that accompanies the page is on
the right two-thirds of the screen.
At the bottom of the page, you will see an image that allows you to go back to the TOP of
the page you are reading. Just touch that to return to the top, instead of just scrolling
on your own computer screen, which is slower. That object is "internally"
Hyper-Texted, which means it links to someplace on this page, instead of to another page
someplace else.
Are you using an older Web browser? Or, do you have a slower modem?
Some people who connect use older Web browsers. This will effect what you see. Some images
will not display, like our cute little E-Mail envelope below. On newer Web browser
systems, the envelope actually moes and looks like someone is writing a letter and
stuffing it in an envelope, and then sealing the envelope. On older Web browsers, it just
looks like a lot of useless dots.
And, we recommend that you use a modem with a Baud Rate or speed of at least 14,400.
28,800 is preferable, and higher speeds are available. (The computer industry is
moving in that direction.) If your modem is slower than 14,400, it will take longer for
you to see the images. We try not to put so many images on each page. You can speed
things up by telling your computer (from your end -- right where you are sitting) to not
display the images or graphics files. There should be a setting on your software that
does that. That way, you will see little empty boxes with text replacing the images (You
can still touch them and jump to the web pages you want ... you just don't get all the
bells and whistles.)
You can print this page simply by selecting PRINT on your computer. What has
happened is that you have transfered this information from the Internet to your Computer.
What you now see on your screen has already been "downloaded." So, you can SAVE
it to your computer, or you can PRINT it to your printer.
Do like a picture you have seen? All the information on this web site is copyrighted to
the IPSN. However, you can use it for personal use and information. You can download a
picture by touching it with your mouse arrow or cursor and then touching the RIGHT Button
... it will ask you if you want to SAVE the image or PRINT it.
I hope this helps. If you have any problems, please contact us, so we can add suggestions
to this page to help other new users to the World Wide Web.
There is no such thing as a stupid question.
Send E-Mail to the Webmaster(Just
touch the word Webmaster ... on most computer systems, you will automatically get
an E-Mail Form to fill out and SEND ... if you don't, copy the E-Mail address. When you
touch the word "Webmaster," you will see the address listed on the screen,
usually at the bottom left side of your computer screen. Write it down and then send it
the way you would normally send e-mail. My E-Mail address is james.mcgough@comcast.net
When you are done with this page, either print it out and
keep it for reference, or just touch the GO TO TOP Graphic at the bottom of this page and
yu will jump back to the top ... then, select the new destination by touching one of the
Menu Stars on the left side of the screen. Have fun!
