Albert Caeser Tocco

Fugitive mob boss Tocco was jailed din New York on January 5, 1989 after he was expelled from Greece by authorities there.

Tocco, then 59, of Chicago Heights, was indicted in October 1988 on charges of shaking down 11 auto salvage yards and brothels, but fled the country before he could be apprehended.

Tocco abandoned his wife and 6 year old son, after selling a South suburban garbage hauling business and other properties. He had some $300,000 in cash in his suit case.

His brother Joseph Tocco is imprisoned in Arizona on racketeering charges. His attorney was Patrick Tuite.

Tocco became a prominent leader of the Chicago Outfit in the early 1970s after the death of Frank LaPorte, who developed the gambling, vending machine and prostitution rackets in South Cook County, Will County and Northwest Indiana.

Tocco was succeeded by Dominick "Tootsie" Palermo, of South Holland, who was also a representative of Local 5 of the Laborer's International Union..
